VAULT

Independent Carbon Removal MRV for the Credit Market

VAULT quantifies sequestered carbon across forests, soils, and geologic storage from a harmonized Landsat, Sentinel-2, and Sentinel-1 SAR stack, with a Random Forest biomass model trained against the ESA CCI reference layer. Every tonne ships with a vintage stamp, a durability class, a reversal flag, and a traceable chain back to the original satellite observation - audit-ready and registry-grade, not aggregated marketing copy.

Key Features

Independent MRV for forestry, soil, and geologic carbon - built on publicly available satellite data and open-science biomass models.

Multi-Sensor Biomass

Harmonized Landsat, Sentinel-2 optical, and Sentinel-1 SAR stack. Optical captures canopy reflectance; SAR sees through cloud and quantifies above-ground structure independently. Together they resolve biomass changes that single-sensor methods miss.

ESA CCI-Trained Random Forest

Biomass models trained against the ESA CCI Biomass reference layer, the same baseline used by IPCC working groups and national greenhouse gas inventories. No proprietary calibration, no closed-source ground truth.

Forest, Soil & Geologic Coverage

Above-ground forestry biomass via SAR-optical fusion, soil organic carbon trajectories via spectral indices and Sentinel-1 moisture proxies, and geologic storage monitoring via InSAR ground deformation and thermal anomaly detection.

Permanence & Reversal Flags

Every credit carries a durability class, a leakage assessment, and an automated reversal flag if subsequent overpasses show biomass loss, harvest, fire, or storage release.

Vintage-Stamped Provenance

Each tonne is timestamped to its underlying observations so registries, auditors, and downstream offtakers can trace the credit back to the original satellite scene and biomass retrieval.

Registry-Ready Outputs

Outputs aligned with Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Puro.earth, and Isometric methodologies. Issuance-grade data, not marketing aggregates.

Technical Capabilities

The technical stack behind every VAULT credit: SAR-optical fusion, an ESA CCI-trained biomass model, and continuous reversal monitoring.

SAR + Optical Fusion

Sentinel-1 backscatter and InSAR coherence resolve above-ground structure and ground deformation; Sentinel-2 and Landsat capture canopy reflectance and spectral signatures. The fusion stack is harmonized to a common 10 m grid and updated at each constellation's native cadence.

Random Forest Biomass Model

A Random Forest regressor trained against ESA CCI Biomass, with feature importances exposed at the cell level. The same model returns per-tonne uncertainty bounds, not just point estimates - every credit ships with its own confidence interval.

Soil Carbon & Geologic Storage

For soils, time-series spectral indices (NDVI, EVI, SAVI) combined with land-cover transitions and Sentinel-1 soil-moisture proxies. For geologic storage, InSAR-derived ground deformation paired with thermal anomaly screening to flag injection-related changes.

Permanence Monitoring

Every project polygon is re-observed at the constellation's natural cadence. Biomass losses, harvest events, fire perimeters, and storage anomalies trigger automated reversal flags and a tonne-by-tonne ledger update visible to registries and offtakers.
