W\u00e4hrend Hurrikan Lee Tausende von Kilometern entfernt in den niedrigeren Breitengraden lauert, sammeln Meteorologen Informationen \u00fcber seinen weiteren Verlauf. Viele komplexe atmosph\u00e4rische Faktoren, die f\u00fcr Lees Weg relevant sind, werden bestimmen, wo und ob der m\u00e4chtige Sturm auf Land trifft. W\u00e4hrend die L\u00f6sung dieses komplizierten meteorologischen R\u00e4tsels bald gefunden sein wird, ist die Geschichte, wie Lee entstand, bereits geschrieben.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hurrikan Lee war urspr\u00fcnglich eine tropische Welle, die Anfang September vor der K\u00fcste Afrikas aufzog. Viele, wenn auch nicht alle Hurrikane beginnen als tropische Wellen. Eine tropische Welle ist einfach ein unorganisiertes Tiefdruckgebiet, das stark genug ist, um sich zu einem tropischen Tiefdruckgebiet, Sturm oder m\u00f6glicherweise Hurrikan zu verdichten. Die sich entwickelnden Bedingungen rund um Lee machen seinen zeitlichen Verlauf besonders bemerkenswert. Am 5. September wurde Lee zu einem tropischen Sturm. Am folgenden Tag bezifferte eine Pressemitteilung des National Hurricane Center (NHC) sp\u00e4t in der Nacht die maximale Intensit\u00e4t von Lee auf 70 Knoten (80 mph), womit er zu einem Hurrikan der Kategorie 1 wurde. 24 Stunden sp\u00e4ter sch\u00e4tzten Meteorologen die Intensit\u00e4t von Lee auf 140 Knoten (160 mph), 80 mph mehr als am Vortag. Damit war der Sturm der erste Hurrikan der Kategorie 5 im Jahr 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wie konnte Lee innerhalb nur eines Tages einen so erstaunlichen Anstieg hinlegen? Die Antwort liegt in der umgebenden Atmosph\u00e4re und dem Ozean. Die atmosph\u00e4rischen Bedingungen um Lee \u2013 vor allem das Fehlen von Windscheren \u2013 trugen ma\u00dfgeblich zur Intensivierung des Sturms bei. Windscheren k\u00f6nnen das Wachstum eines Hurrikans verhindern oder ihn sogar vollst\u00e4ndig zerst\u00f6ren, wenn sich ein System noch in der Anfangsphase befindet. Wichtiger noch: Auf der ozeanischen Seite war der Faktor, der Lees rasante Eskalation vorantrieb, der \u00dcberfluss an verf\u00fcgbarem Treibstoff \u2013 bei Hurrikanen einfach warmes Ozeanwasser. Der tropische Atlantik um Lee war ungew\u00f6hnlich warm, wie Abbildung 1 zeigt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6975\" src=\"https:\/\/floodlightinvest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-1024x729.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/floodlightglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-1024x729.png 1024w, https:\/\/floodlightglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-300x213.png 300w, https:\/\/floodlightglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-768x546.png 768w, https:\/\/floodlightglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-1536x1093.png 1536w, https:\/\/floodlightglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/lee-fig-1-2048x1457.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nach dem extremen Anstieg der Intensit\u00e4t von Lee innerhalb von 24 Stunden waren der St\u00e4rke des Sturms keine Grenzen gesetzt. Lee war auf dem besten Weg, einer der st\u00e4rksten Hurrikane zu werden, die jemals im Atlantik registriert wurden. Gl\u00fccklicherweise trat dies nicht ein \u2013 eine feindliche Atmosph\u00e4re schw\u00e4chte Lee zu einem Sturm der Kategorie 3 ab, der jedoch immer noch ein schwerer Hurrikan war.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lees rasche Entwicklung von einem Sturm der Kategorie 1 zu einem Sturm der Kategorie 5 wirft eine wichtige Frage auf, deren Beantwortung angesichts der zunehmenden H\u00e4ufigkeit solcher St\u00fcrme unser gr\u00f6\u00dftes Interesse ist: Wie wahrscheinlich ist es, dass sich dieses Szenario in Zukunft wiederholt?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laut NOAA absorbieren die Weltmeere 90% \u00fcbersch\u00fcssige W\u00e4rme aus der menschengemachten Erw\u00e4rmung (Lindsey &amp; Dahlman). Obwohl Hurrikane von vielen Faktoren beeinflusst werden, erh\u00f6hen w\u00e4rmere Ozeane generell die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sich St\u00fcrme zu schweren Hurrikanen intensivieren. Eine h\u00f6here H\u00e4ufigkeit schwerer Hurrikane im Atlantik erh\u00f6ht das Risiko, dass angrenzende L\u00e4nder schwere Auswirkungen erfahren. Von 1924 bis heute gab es 40 Hurrikane der Kategorie 5. Von diesen 40 St\u00fcrmen ereigneten sich 20% im letzten Jahrzehnt und 40% in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten (Erdman). Entscheidungstr\u00e4ger m\u00fcssen diesen Aufw\u00e4rtstrend bei der Planung und den Widerstandsf\u00e4higkeitsbem\u00fchungen im Auge behalten, da St\u00fcrme der Kategorie 5 potenziell h\u00e4ufiger Land erreichen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Es ist au\u00dferdem unerl\u00e4sslich, die Treibhausgase zu \u00fcberwachen, die zu diesem Problem beitragen.
